An action-packed month ahead at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs
Just because the Super Derby is over, does not mean racing at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs is too! There are 13 race days left in the 2006 racing season along with a handful of stakes races and other events.
On Saturday, October 14 handicappers can test their skill against some of the best horseplayers in the country for a chance to qualify for the National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas. A rapidly growing event, the National Handicapping Championship pits the best handicappers against each other for large prize money and bragging rights.
You can qualify for the championship at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs! Call Rafe Jordan at (318) 752-6897 for more information.
National Pick 4 on October 7

Bernardini Nears Next Start
Bernardini, the sensational Preakness and Travers winner, will start in the October 7 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park. The ten furlong race will be his first start against older horses and his final prep before the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic. You can watch the race live at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs.
Happy Ticket Targets Keeneland
Happy Ticket is a few dollars short of becoming the all-time leading Louisiana-bred. She is scheduled to work at Keeneland over their new PolyTrak surface. Trainer Andy Leggio, Jr. said if she works well, the star mare will race during Keeneland’s Fall Meet before heading 90-minutes west to the Churchill Downs for the Breeders’ Cup.
Breeders’ Cup Day is Saturday, November 4
The richest day in North American horse racing honors the top horses of each division. Don’t miss the best day to catch value in the wager pools and see some exciting finishes! You can watch the entire Breeders’ Cup card at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs.
It’s a Dead-Heat Right Now in the Jockey’s Race
