Winning Pick 3 numbers repeat in day's drawings
For the 11th time in Pick 3 history, the Virginia Lottery pulled the same numbers twice on a single day.
The winning Pick 3 numbers for Monday's day and night drawings were 2-5-4.
Statistically, the Virginia Lottery expects duplicate numbers about every 1,000 drawing days, according to Virginia Mullen, a lottery spokeswoman.
So far, the Virginia Lottery has pulled the same numbers about three times as often: once every 325 draws.
"Obviously, the drawings are 100 percent random," Mullen said. "We are sure the integrity of drawings is not compromised. That said, it's interesting that this is happening."
The Virginia Lottery began drawing Pick 3 numbers 3,575 draw days ago -- or since Jan. 30, 1995. (The Virginia Lottery does not hold Sunday drawings.) Two years ago, the same day and night Pick 3 numbers were drawn three times in 42 days.
