There will be 1 preliminary shootout round of up to 1000 players, followed by a second shootout round (semi-final) of 200 players, followed by a final elimination round of 40 players. With 1000 players the format will be:
Round 1 (preliminary) – 100 tables w/10 players per table = 1000 players
2 winners from each table = 200 players advancing
Round 2 (semi-final) – 20 tables w/10 players per table = 200 players
2 winners from each table = 40 players advancing
Round 3 (final) – 4 tables w/10 players per table = 40 players.
Round 1 will be a 100 table shootout style tournament, in which players are competing against other players at their table in an effort to become the table winners by winning all of the other player’s chips at their table. Play will continue until there are only 2 players left at the table with chips. The two table winners from round 1 will go on to compete in round 2 of the tournament.
Round 2 will be a 20 table shootout style tournament, in which players are competing against other players at their table in an effort to become the table winners by winning all of the chips at their table. Play will continue until there are only 2 players left at the table with chips. The top 2 table winners from round 2 will go on to compete in round 3 of the tournament.
Round 3 will be an elimination style of play. In the elimination style of play, as long as a player has chips, they are still in the tournament. The length of play for this round will be indefinite, and play will continue as long as two or more players have chips. If a player runs out of chips, they are eliminated. Play continues until one player is left with all of the chips, at which point the tournament ends and prizes are awarded.
In every round, the blinds will start at $25 - $50 and the betting limit will start at $50 - $100. In all of the rounds, the betting limit and blinds will be raised approximately every 20 minutes. Each player will start play with $2,800 in chips. As long as a player has chips, they will still be in the tournament.
Tournament Rules
1. When players register, they will be assigned to a certain table and a seat at that table.
2. Only the player that has registered for the tournament may play. No substitute players will be allowed.
3. Players will be required to show their table & seating assignment to the dealer before taking a seat at a tournament table.
4. The dealers will pass out the tournament chips to the players as they are seated.
5. All players will receive the same starting amount of tournament chips in each round. Chips won in a previous round will not carry over into the next round.
6. After all of the players are seated, they will draw for the dealer button. High card wins the button.
7. During the first 2 rounds of play, deck changes will be allowed provided the deck in play has gone around the table at least once. In the final round, the deck will be changed whenever there is a dealer change.
8. At the beginning of each round, the dealers will not start dealing until they have been given the signal to start dealing by a tournament official.
9. If a registered player is not present at the start of the tournament, all blind bets will be posted from the absent player’s stack accordingly. If the player has not shown up in time to act on their hand, the hand will be placed into the muck and declared dead and all blinds put up for the player will be forfeited to the pot.
10. If a player registers for the tournament after the tournament has started, but before the third betting limit has started, they may take a seat at their assigned table and participate in the tournament. The player will be given the same amount of chips that all contestants received, minus any blinds that were missed.
11. In rounds 1 & 2, when there are only two players left at the table with chips, they will be declared the table winners and advance to the next round.
12. In rounds 1 & 2, if multiple players go all in on the same hand, and one player ends up with all of the chips, the player starting the hand with the larger amount of chips will finish in 2nd place and will be eligible to compete in later rounds of the tournament. If it cannot be determined which player had the most chips, or if the players started the hand with the same number of chips, it will be ranked as a tie. In the event of a tie, all players involved in the tie will have a sudden victory playoff. In the playoff, each player will be dealt a two card hand as in Hold-em, a flop, a 4th card and a 5th card will be put on the board as in a normal hand of Hold-em. The player with the best hand will be declared the winner.
13. Once a player has been eliminated from the tournament, they may not participate any further in the tournament.
14. As players are eliminated in the final round, the remaining players will be moved (by drawing seat assignment cards) to keep the number of players at each table as balanced and equal as possible.
15. In the final round, if two players are eliminated on the same hand, the player who began the hand with the most chips will place higher in the final ranking. If the players started with the same number of chips, it will be ranked as a tie, and if they are entitled to any prizes, those prizes will be divided equally between them.
16. A dealer button will be used and will rotate one position after each hand, from left to right, from the dealer’s perspective.
17. Players will bet in order, with the player to the left of the big blind betting first before the flop and the player to the left of dealer button betting first after the flop.
18. When there are only two players remaining in the tournament, the player with the dealer button will post the small blind and will act first on the opening round.
19. There will be a limit of 1 bet and 3 raises, even when heads-up. Once the tournament comes down to the final 2 players, raises will be unlimited.
20. If a player puts in a raise of fifty percent (50%) or more of the previous bet, they will be required to make a full raise.
21. If a player puts a single chip in the pot that is larger than the bet, but does not announce a raise, it will be considered a call.
22. Player’s verbal declarations in turn are binding.
23. A player who leaves the table before, during, or after a hand, shall have their cards mucked if they are not present when it is their turn to act.
24. If a reasonable amount of time has passed, and a player hasn’t acted upon their hand, that player will be given one (1) minute to make a decision. If action has not been taken by the time the minute is over, there will be a ten (10) second countdown. If a player has not acted on his hand by the time the countdown is over, the hand will be dead.
25. In the event a problem occurs during play, it is the responsibility of the player to bring it to one of the tournament official’s attention immediately.
26. Tournament officials will use reasonable efforts to consider the best interest of the game and fairness as the top priority in the decision-making process. Unusual circumstances can, on occasion, dictate that the technical interpretation of the rules be balanced against the interest of fairness.
27. All disputes must be resolved prior to the start of the next hand. The decision of the tournament official will be final.
28. Players must protect their own hand. If a dealer kills an unprotected hand, the player will not be entitled to their money back. An exception would be if a player raised and their raise had not been called yet, they would be entitled to receive their raise back.
29. If the dealer kills a hand that was turned face up and was obviously the winning hand, it will be considered retrievable.
30. Players are encouraged to protect the other players in the tournament at all times. Example: If the dealer is about to make an error, a player noticing the possible error should speak up.
31. All chips must be kept on or above the table and visibly displayed at all times. Players may not take chips off of the table.
32. Players are not permitted to loan or give tournament chips to other players. Participating in this activity can be considered cause to forfeit a players participation in the tournament, at the discretion of the tournament official.
33. Each player must decide how to play their own hand and may not be coached or assisted by others during the course of play.
34. Players may not discuss the contents of their hands, whether they are still in the hand or not, until all betting action is finished.
35. Discussing discards or hand possibilities before the hand is over is not allowed.
36. Players are to speak English only while at the table.
37. Any players observed playing unethically, especially those in collusion, such as signaling or “flashing”, will result in the players being disqualified.
38. Bad behavior and/or cursing will not be tolerated. Players will be warned in the event of such occurrences. If bad behavior and/or cursing persist, the player will be disqualified.
39. Under no circumstances will gambling of a monetary nature be tolerated or permitted. This includes side bets. Any tournament player found to be gambling for money at a tournament table will be disqualified.

How To Play Hold’em
THE PLAY:
• A dealer button moves around the table from player to player as if that player was dealing.
• There are two blind bets* that are put up by the two players on the immediate left of the dealer button. (1 small blind & 1 big blind).
* Blind bets are bets that are put into the pot by the players before they see any cards.
• You start by getting 2 down cards.
• Then there is a round of betting.
• After the betting round is completed, the dealer will put 3 cards face up in the middle of the table for all players to share. (This is called the flop).
• After the flop, there is another round of betting.
• When that betting round is completed, the dealer will put another card face up in the middle of the table to go along with the first 3 up cards. (This is called the turn card).
• Then there will be another round of betting.
• After that betting round is completed, the dealer will put one more card face up to go along with the other 4 up cards in the middle of the table. (This is called the river card).
• Then there will be a final round of betting.
• When the final round of betting is completed, all players that stayed in the pot will turn over their cards to see who has the best hand.
• A player may use any combination of their 2 hole cards and the 5 cards on the table (called the board) to make a 5 card poker hand.
• The player with the best hand will then be declared the winner and the dealer will push the pot to that player.
