Argosy Casino's recent sold out Charity Golf Classic will help make the dream of home ownership a reality for area families. The tournament, held at the prestigious Staley Farms Golf Club in Kansas City, generated $35,000 for Heartland Habitat for Humanity.

"We are so very proud of our team members, business partners and the community who patricipated in this event, making it the most successful fund-raising event to date for Argosy," said Thomas P. Burke, Argosy vice president and general manager. "Our goal is always to be mindful and responsive to the needs of our local community."

Thirty-six teams turned out for this year's tournament. The event was complete with prizes at every hole; lunch served by Argosy chefs; and trophies and awards for top players.

"This is the second year Argosy has been so generous and done such a great job with this," said Gary Brouillette, chairman of Heartland Habitat's Board of Directors. Argosy's 2005 Charity Golf Classic raised $25,000 for Habitat for Humanity.

"I've played a lot of chairty tournaments," he said, "and Argosy's tournament is really a lot of fun. Everything just clicks like it should."

"We feel very blessed to be a part of this," said Danielle Palmer, fund development specialist for Heartland Habitat for Humanity. "This will help us build homes and eliminate poverty housing. This really makes a difference."

Heartland Habitat for Humanity's mission is to eliminate proverty and substandard housing by providing a "simple, decent place to live" for all people. Since its inception in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built and renovated more than 200,000 homes. Heartland Habitat serves clients in Platte and Clay counties in Missouri and Wyandotte, Leavenworth and Johnson counties in Kansas.
