Two Asian broadcasters have joined the table for US-based WPT Enterprises' flagship show World Poker Tour, bringing the total roll-out of the gaming series to 154 territories worldwide.

Macau Cable in Macau, a Special Administrative Region of China, and MediaCorp in Singapore have both signed on for rights to the series, with the former airing season one and the latter taking season two. The sales add to Solar TV and ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp in the Philippines.

“These two deals give us a secure foothold in southeast Asia, along with our deals in the Philippines,” said Gary MacKinney, WPTE executive director of international distribution. “With the long history of gaming in Macau and the recent licences issued to a number of international gaming giants who will build or run major new casinos, this area is only going to get hotter.”

In other news, WPTE has announced deals to air its Professional Poker Tour (PPT) series on Canada’s CityTV. The debut PPT season is currently airing on the Travel Channel in the US.

In addition to the PPT, Canada’s CityTV will air the recently completed WPT season four. Other recent deals include the first WPTE broadcasting commitment in Spain where Fox will air WPT’s season one.

“WPTE’s continued international broadcast expansion has fuelled the worldwide poker phenomenon and has given us first position in the increasingly larger global poker marketplace,“ said Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPTE.
