The casinos based in Atlantic City have reported June revenue to be down by 1.9%. The fall in revenue is due to an unexpected lack of interest in slot machines which have brought the overall figures down. Another factor that has impacted the takings is the recent smoking ban.
The revenue over the first half of 2006 are actually showing 4.4% loss. This is the first time this has been a problem since the Atlantic casinos opened their doors. Some casino’s are showing increases and so the problem is thought to be temporary. However, experts predict that this may be the first year where the casinos show an annual decrease.
