Baby Dies in Casino Parking Lot After Dad Falls Asleep

Police investigations continue after an infant was found dead in the parking lot of the Sycuan Resort and Casino in El Cajon, California. The baby's father reported that he was waiting in the car with his child while his wife was in the casino. Apparently he fell asleep and only realized the baby had stopped breathing once he had woken up.

The father called casino security personnel for assistance, and a little later, medical paramedics arrived at the casino parking lot. The paramedics attempted to revive the infant with CPR, but it was too late, and he died.

Investigators will look into this matter further and review casino surveillance tapes. The child's parents will also be interviewed.

Well, as sad as this sounds, if the dad really was in the car with the baby, it doesn't seem very negligent. I've sat in the car outside Best Buy with my son while my husband shopped. Of course, we weren't there long enough for me to fall asleep, but at least they weren't like the people that left the baby in the car while they both went into gamble!
