Lottery news from http://www.accessnorthga.com/

The winner of the $163 million grand prize from the latest Mega Millions lotto drawing is a 52-year-old maintenance man for the Bainbridge Housing Authority.

Ben Chason selected the cash option and, after federal and state taxes, will go home with about $66 million.

He accepted his check Monday morning at Georgia Lottery headquarters in downtown Atlanta. The drawing was Friday.

Chason said he bought the wining ticket Thursday at Stop N Buy convenience store in Bainbridge. He said he usually buys two Mega Millions tickets a week.

When asked if he will continue working for the housing authority, Chason replied, "I'm retired."

In addition to the grand prize winner, 13 players matched all five numbers but not the Mega Ball number. They will receive second prizes of $250,000 each.

The winning numbers from Friday night's drawing were: six, 26, 33, 39 and 55. The Mega Ball number was one.

The next drawing is Tuesday with a jackpot of $12 million.

Congratulations!

You won $163 million!

Before you get out the door you already have spent $100 million....IN TAXES!

Don't get me wrong i would take $66 million and run too but WOW that is a high tax bracket

And isn't it a hallmark of a free society that we don't outlaw otherwise inoffensive vices simply because some people harm themselves? - LA Times Editorial

Yea, $66 million is nothing to sneeze at but $100 million in taxes hurts!

I have always thought that taking it over 20 years was bad because the state was making more on interest than you were getting, BUT maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing that way. Can't be taxed the same way.

True, losing $100 million hurts, but you have to put it in perspective I guess. It is like when I am watching Deal or No Deal and I feel sorry for someone that had $3 million in their case and only left with $675,000. ONLY $675,000!

Anyhow, with the $66 million, he shouldn't be hurting anytime soon. And I love that he said he's retired!
