Historic Downtown Las Vegas Casino Sold
10:00 PM PDT on Saturday, June 30, 2007
The legendary 55-year-old Binion's Hotel and Gambling Hall has been sold again, this time to TLC Casino Enterprises for $32 million in cash.
TLC also owns the Four Queens, which is across the street from Binion's in downtown Las Vegas.
The seller, MTR Gaming Group, bought Binion's in 2004 for $20 million, but the property has been in the red ever since. The deal has to close by the end of the year (though TLC can request a six-month extension).
Downtown continues to be challenged by dwindling crowd counts and revenues, both of which are being siphoned off by its shiny Strip neighbors to the south.
Trump Tops Off
The first Trump tower has been topped off. At the ceremony, Donald Trump said that the 1,282-unit condo came in under its $600 million budget and made $1.3 billion in sales.
The buyers won't begin moving in, however, until the middle of 2008 at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the parcel that was to be the site of The Donald's ex, Ivana's, failed condominium tower is about to go up for sale at a reported price of $50 million.
Dick's
Dick's Last Resort is scheduled to open this week at the Excalibur.
This bar-food joint, known for the rude behavior of its employees, has popular franchises throughout the country.
Crisp and Angry
Can you guess what this is? It's an appetizer at Las Vegas' latest celebrity-chef restaurant, David Burke at the Venetian.
The crisp and angry lobster is fantastic and comes with a $24 price tag, not too shabby for a celebrity chef's dish at a marquee casino.
