Brunilda win Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Brunilda posted a wire-to-wire victory in the $60,000 Politely Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beat Smart N Classy by two lengths.

Brunilda, the betting favorite in the field of seven, covered the one and one sixteenth miles on the firm turf course in 1:40 4/5. Ridden by Eddie Castro and trained by Stan Hough, the 6-year-old mare posted her eighth career win and boosted her career earnings to $287,883.

Brunilda returned $3.80, $2.40 and $2.10, while Smart N Classy paid $3.20 and $2.20. Humoristic was another neck back in third and paid $2.60.

"The fractions worked out great for her on the front end and she came home good," Hough said.
