CANAL FULTON, Ohio (AP) -- City leaders in Canal Fulton don't want an Indian-run casino in their town.
The city council voted unanimously last night to send a letter to the Eastern Shawnee tribe saying the northeast Ohio community doesn't even want to be considered.
The vote follows a city survey that shows 55 percent of residents were against the proposal.
The mayor says the issue divided the community and is not worth pursuing.
The Eastern Shawnee of Oklahoma want to open several gaming resorts in Ohio.
And the tribe has been signing deals with local
communities.
Canal Fulton is about 15 miles south of Akron.
