Online Casino news from http://www.casinogamblingweb.com/ September 8, 2006 - This year's Casino Affiliate Conention (CAC), which was to take place at the Stardust Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, has seen at least seven of its major sponsors cancel their scheduled appearances just one week before the show was set to open. The cancellations are in response to the latest arrest to another executive of a major offshore betting company. Peter Dicks, chairman of Sporting Bet, was arrested early Thursday morning and is being detained on illegal internet gambling charges. Dicks' arrest is the second high profile arrest of the summer and it is one that is sending a serious message to the online gaming community. The online gaming community has apparently received the message as seven major sponsors cancelled their annual trip to Las Vegas. According to our sources Referback, Roxy Affiliates, 9am, CPays, Casino Blasters, BrightShare, Wagershare, Poker Affiliates, and others have officially cancelled their trips. "If you work for an offshore gaming corporation and you travel to the US you are risking arrest," said a reliable source who wishes to remain anonymous. It was revealed by the US on Thursday that anywhere from 20-50 warrants were issued in May of this year, some believe that number may be more like 200-500, however who the warrants are for remains undisclosed information. The US DoJ (Department of Justice) appears to be cracking down only on online sports betting companies. Both arrests so far have been to high level members of companies whose major revenues stem from US sports gamblers. However, with the second arrest and the knowledge that hundreds of warrants are out all offshore gaming companies of any kind are playing it safe. "It just doesn't make sense to risk coming to the United States," says our source. Only seven companies have confirmed cancellations of appearances at this year's convention, however, most are expected to cancel before the show begins.

The online gaming community has apparently received the message as seven major sponsors cancelled their annual trip to Las Vegas. I live in USA and am happy and proud to do so but sometimes I wish there was a country out there that would take us behind the wood shed and beat us up. If it was another country arresting a US executive and causing the US stock market to drop millions, we would call the WCO, United Nations, levy enbargos and Home Land Security would have it lnked to terrorism within hours and the Marines would be on the way.
