Several members of the Dallas City Council hope to tear down Reunion Arena and build a casino.
The 26-year-old arena has been empty since American Airlines Center opened in uptown five years ago. Now, city staffers recommend selling the site after current leases expire in 2008.
"Blow it up, the blood is flowing, we're losing a million dollars a year there, we need to get rid of it," said Mitchell Rasansky, Dallas Council Member.
Some council members want to replace the arena with a casino if state lawmakers approve gambling next year.
The Dallas City Council has final say over any plan regarding the future of the arena. |
