Casino Prince lost plate in running 9 Apr 2006
By Rob Burnet
Casino Prince, the race favourite for the $3m, Group I, AAMI Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday lost a plate in the running.
Jockey Jim Cassidy told Racing NSW stewards that the after being slow away from the barrier he had to use the colt up to make a reasonable position in the race.
He said that at the 600m he felt that Casino Prince may have lost its off-hind plate as the colt appeared to become unbalanced from that point and failed to respond to his riding in
the straight.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed Casino Prince to be coughing and to have lost its off-hind plate. Trainer Anthony Cummings undertook to report the results of a full veterinary check of Casino Prince following the race.
Casino Prince did not feature at any part of the race finishing 14th, nearly 10L from the winner Miss Finland. |
