Bus service expanding to Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, CA
Daily Democrat
The Yolo County Transportation District, which oversees YOLOBUS, has approved increasing the amount of public bus service operating between Woodland and Cache Creek Casino Resort.
The expanded schedule will begin on Sunday, March 19.
Costs for the additional trips will be paid for by the casino and the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians.
Under the new schedule, the first bus would arrive at the casino at 6:39 a.m., with the last bus departing the casino at 1:07 a.m. Except for very late night trips, most casino trips have been timed to allow connections to and from YOLOBUS intercity route 42, enabling a rider to make connections from downtown Sacramento, West Sacramento, and Davis. YOLOBUS fares on the route are $1.50 per one way ride, 75 cents for students, and 60 cents for seniors and disabled riders.
"I'm glad to see this service improvement successfully negotiated between the tribe and YOLOBUS," said Mike McGowan, Yolo County supervisor who sits on the YCTD Board. "The fact that they are covering the added costs for the service is a testimonial to our good partnership."
YCTD has been providing YOLOBUS service to Cache Creek Resort and Casino for about 4-1/2 years.
Ridership on the casino route in 2000/2001 averaged 3,927 per month. Today, the average is 14,202 per month - 259 percent increase. |
