Casino alters payouts for 'Swipe' game

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has made a major change to its ''Swipe & Win'' game, the subject of an embarrassing dispute with a customer last year.
The free promotional game is still played the same, but the frequency and size of the payouts have changed.
Instead of having one giant Swipe & Win jackpot winner each month, the casino since February has offered a smaller cash prize every day.
''We now have a guaranteed, daily winner of $5,000 every single day of the week except Wednesday,'' said Seminole Hard Rock spokesman Gary Bitner.
Wednesday, Bitner explained, is the jackpot win day for Player's Club members who play the casino's electronic gaming machines.
In August, Freddy Howard of Sunny Isles Beach won a Swipe & Win jackpot prize of almost $260,000 -- until casino officials pointed out a computer glitch three hours later and said Howard wasn't getting a dime. The casino eventually paid Howard his $259,945.75 out of ``good will.''
Bitner said the change in Swipe & Win payouts has nothing to do with the Howard situation -- but with ensuring that at least one person walks away a few thousand dollars richer every day.
But the winnings won't be $5,000 next month, Bitner said.
Starting in April, Swipe & Win will offer varying amounts of daily prize money, all ''in the thousands of dollars,'' Bitner said. |
