The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is expected to announce today whether Freddy Howard, who was told by casino employees that he won nearly $260,000, is officially a winner or a loser.
Howard, 53, of Sunny Isles Beach, swiped his Player's Card in a ''Swipe & Win'' progressive jackpot promotional kiosk on Aug. 29 and was told by casino employees that he won $259,945.75.
But 15 hours later, the casino told him that he did not win due to a mixture of human and computer error.
On Monday, the Seminole Tribal Gaming Commission contracted the New Jersey firm of Gaming Laboratories International, which specializes in examining computer systems associated with gambling devices, to look into whether Howard won or lost.
The findings as of Thursday morning indicated that he had not won.
It is unclear whether the Hard Rock will give Howard any compensation due to the error.
