Norwich Bulletin
From her debut album, "Time Has Come" in 1992, to her most recent album, "Waking Up Laughing" released early this month, Martina McBride has made a name in country music, selling more than 16 million records.
Friday, Mohegan Sun recognized McBride, placing her name on the casino's Walk of Fame.
"I hope we can continue this wonderful relationship with Mohegan Sun," McBride told a crowd of fans outside the arena box office.
Thursday's performance at Mohegan Sun was the fifth time McBride appeared at the casino in seven years.
McBride has received a Grammy nomination and is a four-time winner of the Country Music Association's Best Female Vocalist award, sharing the record with country icon Reba McEntire.
Her 2007 tour began April 12 in Kansas City, Mo., and will continue through Aug. 7, when she plays Kennewick, Wash. On tour, she will be joined by special guests Rodney Atkins and Little Big Town.
Mohegan Sun's Walk of Fame also includes country stars Rascal Flatts, Brooks & Dunn and Toby Keith. The walk, which began with Tim McGraw in 2004, pays tribute to those who have made "continuing contributions to the casino's success," according to the casino Web site. |
