FRENCH LICK - The Historic Hotels Preservation Commission has scheduled a public meeting for Thursday. The commission is the local entity that has worked to advance plans for a casino in Orange County.

The session will begin at 9 a.m. at the French Lick Community Building, 8560 W. Main St.

Two lawsuits involving the partners in the casino and resort development have been filed in Orange Circuit Court. The Cook Group sued Lauth Resorts and Casinos LLC early last month. Lauth filed a lawsuit against Cook a few days later.

Details of the two lawsuits remain unavailable for public review. Orange Circuit Court Judge Larry Blanton earlier cited Indiana law that allows certain information to be sealed. A public hearing is scheduled for July 31 in Orange Circuit Court to determine whether the lawsuits should be available for public view. Cook and Lauth have agreed not to discuss the case publicly.

The Times-Mail, the Herald-Times and the Louisville, Ky. Courier-Journal are asking that the judge make the lawsuits and related documents a matter of public record.
