Four weeks into the hiring process, officials with Riverwind Casino say they are well on their way to reaching their goal of hiring 1,874 employees before the facility opens in July.
Crews are wrapping up the final construction jobs at the Chickasaw Nation casino off 1-35 and Highway 9 just south of Norman. Riverwind officials said as of Wednesday, they had brought more than 700 employees on board, but the hiring process is still in full swing.
"Although we have received hundreds of applications, we are still seeking more employees to build a qualified, service-oriented staff at Riverwind," said Linda Dalton, chief human resources officer for Chickasaw Enterprises. "We need to hire 184 people each week to reach our goal of 1,874 employees. So far, we're on target to reach that goal before the July 17 opening date."
Dalton said Riverwind has job openings in a variety of areas from cashiers to cooks, IT service technicians to ticketing clerks. The casino will offer training for many of its positions.
"Riverwind wants to be the employer of choice for Oklahoma," Dalton said. "We're offering competitive pay, advancement opportunities, 100 percent paid employee healthcare and a fun and exciting work environment."
