Casino reward cards could offer big wins for gamblers
For years it's been three cherries wins on the slots.
But now at two casinos locally, 2½ cherries, two cherries and a lemon, any combination, really, can be a winner too - if your membership card is in the machine when a new kind of jackpot hits.
Sliding a Paradise Rewards membership card into a slot machine may be the key to an at-least $25,000 prize for visitors to Agua Caliente and Spa Resort casinos
The two casinos became the fifth and sixth facilities in California Tuesday to offer the game, known locally as Paradise Jackpots, a casino spokeswoman said. Gamblers are automatically entered into a jackpot drawing that could offer as much as $100,000 as long as their Paradise Rewards cards are inside a slot machine at the time of the drawing.
"It doesn't take any skill (to win); there's no strategy," said Therese Everett-Kerley, public relations specialist with the casinos.
The jackpot begins at $25,000 and gradually accumulates over time. A drawing could happen at anytime, but if the payoff reaches $99,999, gamblers should expect it to happen almost immediately, Everett-Kerley said.
Plasma screens are set up around the casinos to show the winning pot. A winner could be announced at anytime, obtaining anywhere from $25,000 to $100,000.
"It probably won't be daily; it'll take awhile for it to ramp up," Everett-Kerley said, adding someone could win the jackpot at one casino and visit the other one for a second chance at a prize.
Each casino has 1,000 slots. People may participate by playing any machine except for roulette.
Anyone who is playing when the jackpot is awarded will receive $50 in free slot play. Credit will be installed on the rewards cards.
But the only way to participate is to have a Paradise Rewards card.
"Anybody can get that; it's like a frequent flier card," Everette-Kerley said. |
