BILOXI, Miss., June 2 (UPI) -- The Biloxi Sun-Herald may have called the Mississippi coast near Biloxi "the invisible coast" after Hurricane Katrina but it's not in the shadows anymore.
In fact, the promising outlook of waterfront casinos along the shoreline suggests the city could come back stronger than ever, reports ABC News.
In a speech last month, Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway remarked that the three casinos still open in Biloxi have generated nearly 70 percent of the revenue produced by all 10 gambling resorts before the devastating Aug. 29 storm.
"I think (casinos are) going to be the key to the economic future of Biloxi," Holloway said.
Before last September, casinos in Mississippi were required to float just off the coastline, but new legislation now allows them on the coastline shore.
Residents of the U.S. Gulf Coast see new hope as Biloxi begins to reemerge as a booming casino town.
