Casino workers can vote to unionize
Evansville -- Dealers and floor supervisors at Casino Aztar are not considered management under federal law and are eligible to unionize for collective bargaining, the National Labor Relations Board has ruled.
The workers petitioned the NLRB in August, seeking the right to join the United Auto Workers, a union that represents members in a variety of trades. The 26-page ruling by the board's Region 25 office in Indianapolis, which was signed Oct. 4, will allow 183 workers to vote in a union-representation election.
"This is a great ruling for workers," said Maurice Davison, UAW Region 3 director. "Workers are ready to move forward." |
