I am learning how to do a bunch of chip tricks. I am always looking to improve on my hand movements.

My favorite thing to do is the chip-twirl. If you don't know what that is, well, it is where you hold 3 chips up, take out the middle one, twirl it 180 degrees, and then put it back between the 2 other chips.

What do you like in chip tricks?

The chip-twirl sounds pretty cool! I can envision it in my head. Are there any illustrations of chip tricks online? I am a really good card shuffler but I haven't experimented much with the chip tricks.

I tried to do some chip tricks before, but I have failed everytime that I tried. I decided to give up after awhile because I was that bad. Chips were going everywhere. It's amazing that you can do that.

I am a bit of a klutz myself so I can imagine that the chips would be flying everywhere for me, too. It's a very impressive skill to have and I'm sure that it really entertains people during a poker game!

I could never do anything with the poker chips I had. I always just kept them infront of me, and didn't touch them until I would go in on a hand. I tried to do a chip trick once in a game, and they went everywhere, making me look like a fool.

I also do the twirl it is the easiest one I have learned so far, I have done it in a live game and then spent about a half an hour explaining how I did it. I have gotten so good at it I can do quarters and nickels like this as well. Chip tricks are def. a plus in the intimadation factor at a table so master them at home and then take them on the road with you.

If you like videogames, come see me at Gaming Evolved Forum (I'm Eyes Only over there too)

I'm not coordinated enough for that. Like others have said, chips would fly everywhere and I'd look like an idiot. My favorite trick is making my opponents' chips disappear.

Oh man - I watch the poker players on television do cool things with chips and I want to try it, but haven't yet (just haven't broken into my hubby's WPT case to get chips yet). I remember when I was little and my parents would play cards with the neighbors, I was fascinated when my mom would shuffle the deck and I could not wait until I was old enough (or rather my hands were big enough!) to do that! I still love to shuffle cards as crazy as that sounds.

Well, hubby just busted my bubble. I was going to get his WPT chips out and practice some chip tricks when he said "You know you need a felt table to do that" and of course we don't hae one. I hate logical people who run your fun :-)

But, he cannot stop me from trying to do the Chris "Jesus" Ferguson card tricks - LOL!

Well, I think it might be a while before I can cut fruit, but I will try! It sounds odd, but it almost seems like bowling. Chris was talking about the arm movement and how you had to throw the same way every time, which is also a bowling thing.

My husband has to pull duty on base tonight...maybe I will get his chips out and see what I can do :-)

Lol...I'm sorry Libby but I have this picture of you all alone at home flipping chips all over the place while you're trying to learn tricks. It's funny

When you perfect your chip tricks, especially the ones that Chris Ferguson does, you're going to have to have someone take a picture so we can all see it. :P

libblesp try improvising with different materials if you don't have a felt table to practice on. I myself don't have a table and instead I practice on my mousepad. Its actually made with a "felt-like" material so it works pretty well, you might wanna try that out.

I love card tricks too, its funny sometimes when people see what you can do with a deck of cards... they might not let you deal anymore.

I just met a pretty cool guy named Levi, actually he was only 18, and he was helping me with my groceries in Weaverville, CA. I usually try to talk to young people who haven't been corrupted yet. I asked him about life in small town, etc... what he wanted to do, where he wanted to go. In about two seconds this kid has out a deck of cards flipping them all over the place. His current ambition was is be a card dealer in the town Redding, CA where there are few poker parlors and card shops as well as Win River Casino. I told him about WCD and that I'd like to get him hanging out here, so maybe we will see him soon and he can give some tips.

I imagine by his "will-power" to become a dealer, he will actually do really well. It was really fun to see him whip those cards out. I only wish I had my casino shirt on, I think he might have been shocked the owner of WCD was some guy from the same small mountain county he was living in. None the less, I'm glad this thread got kicked up, I want to email him and invite him over.

That sounds pretty tight, it'll be interesting to hear from the perspective of a true card trick expert. I always consider becoming a dealer for some extra change, but I never actually do. Anyways, hope to see him soon!
