PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- A church group announces its opposition to a proposed West Warwick casino.
The Rhode Island State Council of Churches held a press conference this morning to announce its affiliation with Save Our State.
That's the coalition that opposes the casino that the Narragansett Indian Tribe and Harrah's Entertainment want to build in West Warwick. Supporters want voters in November to approve a constitutional amendment that would allow for the casino.
The council of churches is an ecumenical body representing different church organizations.
