A Lenoir store clerk who told a woman that her scratch-off lottery ticket didn't win any money is accused of stealing the ticket.
Josh Wesley Price is charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense, and police are looking into other possible scams involving Price and other winning tickets.
Tammy Church bought the ticket on August first and returned to the store to claim her 77-dollar prize. Police say she was told the ticket wasn't a winner and that the clerk kept the ticket, but after she spoke with family and friends, she went back to the store to get her ticket. Authorities say Price told her that he'd torn up the ticket.
Police were called in to investigate, and while they were questioning Price, he fled and led officers on a short chase before he was captured. After marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in his car, Price was charged with drug violations.
Price also was charged with driving with a revoked license.
