Court: Gaming Board had right to revoke casino license

A federal appellate court has ruled that the Illinois Gaming Board had the right to revoke the license of the Emerald Casino.
Just because the village of Rosemont built a parking garage in hopes it would get final approval for a casino doesn't mean the state gaming board can't regulate gaming, Judge Diane Wood wrote.
The court took no position on whether the state should or should not have revoked Emerald's license, but it rejected Rosemont's and Emerald's claims that the state had no right to revoke it.
Rosemont's and Emerald's fights with the state over the casino have dragged on for a decade. The gaming board and the attorney general had concerns about alleged organized crime ties of some parties involved in the venture. |
