Deck officer passing through town wins Wheel of Fortune
$1,893,431 MegaJackpot on first pull during visit to L’Auberge
LAKE CHARLES, La. — Emily Patin of Crowley, La. won $259,220.50 playing Quarter Million at L’Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino in Lake Charles, La. this weekend. When it comes to non-stop gaming action, the $370 million Las Vegas-style resort offers its guests the ultimate casino experience, as Patin found out Friday, September 29 by lining up three Quarter Million symbols for her big win on the 25-cent machine.
Patin started the weekend of winning at L’Auberge, but it was a deck officer on a chemical vessel passing through Lake Charles Sunday, October 1 who might be celebrating the most. Mitchell Johnson, 23, of Port Jefferson, NY sat down at a Wheel of Fortune® $5 slot machine inserted $100, and claimed the $1,893,431 statewide progressive jackpot on his first spin.
“I didn’t believe it, in fact, I thought it was a joke when I realized it was true I couldn’t stand up,” said Johnson, still shocked about his win even after the Louisiana State Police and IGT technicians verified the MegaJackpot®.
Johnson said last month when in town he won $5,000 on the same The Wheel of Fortune® machine at L’Auberge. So he played his ‘lucky machine’ as soon as he arrived at L’Auberge Sunday.
When asked what he will do with his winnings, Johnson replied, “Go on vacation, party like a rock star and invest the rest.”
