DEVELOPER FINANCING IN WORKS FOR INDOOR GOLF COURSE, CASINO

A Canadian-based developer of the proposed Tunica County resort that would feature a golf course under a dome said he's moving ahead with financing for the $1.9-billion project.

Scott Hawrelechko, chief executive officer of Myriad World Resorts in Edmonton, Alberta, said he has secured commitments from four out of six sources of funding for the project. He said he is unable to release the names of the funding sources.

He's optimistic about the Tunica gaming market.

Forty-eight million people live within 400 miles of the Tunica market, and there is $114 billion to $147 billion in income within a 200-mile radius, he said.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission has approved the site and development plans for the casino. The developers need to show proof of financing to receive from the commission the authority to proceed with construction.
