The Department of National Lotteries (DNL) currently has in parliament a new Lotteries Bill that will soon be passed into law. As part of this new Bill, officials of DNL have been on a national sensitization tour to educate all stake holders on the new Lotteries Bill.
In Accra, last Friday at the Brennen Hall, the Director of DNL, Mr. Kojo Andah, and other executives of the Department met with all lotto receivers, lotto writers and the general public to deliberate and highlight on the new Lotteries Bill.

Mr. Kojo Andah told the gathering that the bill, when passed will ensure that illegal lotteries and other games of that kind are totally eradicated from the system. He also stressed on the need to put under one umbrella all the “little and scattered laws” that govern the Lottery Industry – exactly what the new bill will do.

Answering a question on whether the new bill will not position DNL as the main collector of all revenues that will be generated by the private lotto operators, Mr. Andah answered that the new bill, when passed will only ensure that revenues go to the right channel while curbing the occurrence of illegality in the Lottery Industry. Similar exercises were organized in Koforidua, Takoradi, Ho and Kumasi.
