MADISON, Wis. -- There will soon be new games offered at Madison's DeJope Gaming Center -- and it appears poker might be one of them.

However, state officials said that they are watching closely to make sure DeJope doesn't violate a measure that Dane County residents voted on two years ago.

Back in June, DeJope began getting rid of paper Bingo and remodeling for the addition of hundreds of Bingo slots, WISC-TV reported.

Now, multiple unnamed sources have told WISC-TV that it could be more than that, but exactly what isn't known.

The mystery appears on DeJope's Web site, which indicates that a major announcement is coming soon.

In addition, patrons and a long-time staff member said it will be more than Bingo slots, saying perhaps poker and possibly more than that.

DeJope and Ho-Chunk representatives will neither confirm nor deny any of these claims, but said they are looking at ways to solidify the gaming business.

Jon Greendeer, executive administrative officer of Ho-Chunk Nation, said they are looking to broaden and expand the gaming experience at DeJope. He also said they are looking at ways to make the most of their Class II license and create a total gaming package.

Class II games are restricted to Bingo, electronic Bingo and similar games.

Greendeer said poker games like Texas Hold'em fall into that "similar games" category, and it is something they are looking at adding to DeJope.

The state said it will be watching closely and if DeJope should open with Class III games, it is prepared to shut it down within two days.

The marketing manager at DeJope said construction will be complete within six months. Between now and then, DeJope is expected to announce its plans.
