DELTA DOWNS TO HOST ‘LAST FAN STANDING’ SERIES OF HANDICAPPING TOURNAMENTS

VINTON, LA. – Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel will conduct four handicapping tournaments in its OTB before the start of the 2006-2007 Thoroughbred Meet on Nov. 1. The ‘Last Fan Standing’ contests will take place on consecutive Thursdays starting on Sept. 28 and ending on Oct. 19.
The grand prize each week will be $250 with second place finishers earning a free hotel room. Those patrons who finish third will be awarded four complimentary meals in the Triple Crown Buffet. In all, the track will give away $1,500 in cash and prizes during the promotion.
The ‘Last Fan Standing’ handicapping tournament was first held at Delta Downs during the track’s recently completed American Quarter Horse Meet. Linda Broussard of Iowa, La. won the event by picking nine consecutive horses that finished third or better during a single live racing program.
The upcoming tournament will challenge players to choose one horse in eight straight simulcast races. Their selection must finish first, second or third in as many consecutive races as possible to be eligible for prizes. The three contestants who last the longest will determine the winners. Cumulative show prices on all correct selections will be used as a tie-breaker.
Fans who wish to participate in the ‘Last Fan Standing’ Handicapping Tournament must be at least 21 years of age and a member of Prime Rewards. For more information about the promotion, please visit the track’s website at www.deltadowns.com.
