Durant OK (OPENPRESS) July 8, 2006 -- The first series of tournament play is over at the Choctaw Poker Room in Durant, Oklahoma but the "dog days of summer" bring with them a whole new round of multi-table tournaments that will find the winners, and a few others, playing in the Ten Thousand Dollar "Tournament of Champions Invitational" come September. "We had excellent turn outs for our inaugural series"' said Tournament Director Davy Brown, one of Choctaw Poker Room's shift supervisors. "Folks really played hard and had a really good time. It's been a lot of work but I find the tournaments very enjoyable. Our next set series will be even better and will have both $50 + $10 dollar buy-ins and $100 + $15 dollar buy-ins."

The schedule for the multi-table play will be every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through the end of August. Tuesdays will see the tournament begin at 7 P.M. and players who come and play the live cash games prior to the tournament can earn extra tournament starting chips beginning at 4 P.M. the day of the tournament. The buy-in for the Tuesday tournament will be $50 +$10. The same goes for the Thursday tournament, which will begin at 2 P.M. with extra tournament chips for those playing the ring games beginning at 11 A.M. in the morning. Both tournaments will host a maximum of 70 players and will be in the freeze-out format. Though listed as "shoot-out" events in the original flyers, the tournaments will be a standard event structure with "short" tables being "broken down" and players moved to fill up other tables. The Wednesday freeze-out tournament will be a $100 +$15 buy in and will kickoff at 6:30 P.M. with registration starting at 5 P.M. in the poker room and is limited to 54 players.

Adding a change to the still new Choctaw Casino Poker Room venue is the introduction of Sit & Go tournaments. These single table, ten player maximum, events will provide an outlet for those players who really enjoy tournament style play but find large multi-table tournaments too daunting or to tedious. Sit & Go play will be every Monday through the end of August. Games will start at 11 A.M. and will run through 7 P.M. with buy-ins of $25+$5, $50+$10, and $100+$15. Each game will start when enough players have bought in. Two places will be paid in these tournaments. Payouts will be 65% for first place and 35% for second place.

"We are all about providing the best service and the most options to our players", said Larry Mundy, another of the qualified poker room shift supervisors working at Choctaw Durant. "We are working hard to become 'the place to play' for poker players from all over Oklahoma and Texas. With quality staff, excellent service, and putting the players first we know we are capable of being just that."
