FORT SMITH, Ark. -- A group working to promote economic growth in downtown Fort Smith has endorsed a development that could include a casino.
Officials with the Central Business Improvement District said that they are endorsing the entire project, not just the casino.
The development is being planned for the riverfront, officials said. It could also include an upscale outlet mall, an IMAX movie theater and even an arena for a semi-pro hockey team.
However, officials said all of the ideas being pitched hinge on the approval of the casino.
While some Fort Smith directors said they would support the development, the city has not taken an official stance. |
