I can remember eating Chinese food there before the Mexican restaurant opened while I was a valet at Otto's casino!!! Now that's old school!!!

The Eureka Casino in Black Hawk has agreed to shut down by the end of March, after failing to get its license renewed.

The Colorado Division of Gaming said Thursday that the casino, owned and managed by Daniel Cooper, was denied a new gaming license because of "allegations of unsuitable financial condition and practices." Cooper's company is DEC Inc., which does business as The Eureka! Ltd.

Cooper and the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission, which issued the denial notice, agreed that the Eureka would close this month. Via the agreement, Cooper also will not apply for any gaming license for five years.

The Eureka Casino is located at 211 Gregory St. in Black Hawk. The casino has more than 145 slot machines, with bets ranging from a nickel to $1, and video poker.

Amenities include a Mexican restaurant called Tafolinos. The casino's bar offers hot dogs and snacks.

The gaming commission notified Cooper it wasn't renewing Eureka's license in December 2007, but allowed the gaming establishment to remain open until a final decision was reached in the denial.
