Tournament of Kings
Anything is possible in Las Vegas - including having dinner with King Arthur and a few dragons.
The Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino features 100 performers who parade before the spectators enjoying a medieval feast. During the meal, the audience is treated to jousting competitions and sword fights. Adding to the fun are the dragons and fire wizards who are also part of the act.
Don’t expect to have a quiet meal with a little dinner entertainment at the Tournament of Kings. Guests are encouraged to cheer loudly for their favorite knights in shining armor.
At the start of the show, seven kings and a dragon knight representing evil enter Excalibur’s King Arthur’s Arena, all riding brightly plumed horses. The kings join King Arthur at the Round Table where they have a feast before their medieval games begin.
The audience is divided into seven “countries” that represent the seven kings. The dark knight has his own section as well, representing the evil Mordred’s minions. A toasting ritual encourages the crowd to join in the festivities - and makes it easier for the guests to support their “country’s” king. The show’s display of strength and agility will have even the most passive guest cheering lustfully. While guests can never cheer loud enough for their king, those who boo the “enemy” will be reprimanded. This all to be in good fun!
Mordred, the evil fire wizard, disrupts the fun as he tries to take over King Arthur’s kingdom. As they try to fight back Mordred, one king is “killed.” The others try to avenge their comrade’s “death,” and the battle begins in earnest, lasting until one victor is standing.
Dinner is served during the show, and this is one meal where parents can ignore their children’s manners. In traditional medieval fashion, the meal is eaten with the hands and the soup is drunk from the bowl. The dinner is Cornish hen, representing fare that may have been found on King Arthur’s table.
The show does include fire, fog, and pyrotechnics, which may scare little children, but overall, it is a fun and unique way to have dinner.
