The owners of the Foxwoods Resort Casino are suing the town of Ledyard for taxing leased slot machines at the casino.
A New Jersey slot machine distributor is joining the complaint, in which the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe says the taxes violate federal law.
The town has been collecting the taxes from third-party vendors on about 500 machines leased by the casino since 2003.
The town argues that while the Pequots are a federally recognized tribe, and their property is tax-exempt, the same rules don't apply to leased property.
