CRICKET bad boy Shane Warne is being investigated by gaming authorities over an online casino he promotes.

The Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation probe was prompted by fears children can gamble using Warne's site, PokerCricket.com.
Anti-gambling lobbyists have accused Warne of using his celebrity status to "milk vulnerable people" for cash.

Warne, who also has a children's charity in his name, launched the website in June under the slogan: "Pad up or deal. Either suits me."

Visitors who click on a "play poker now" button are taken to a site where they can log in and gamble on poker and other casino games.

The terms and conditions for gambling state players must be 18, but include a disclaimer that the site "does not assume responsibility or liability for any misrepresentations regarding a user's age".

Inter-church Gambling Taskforce chairman Mark Zirnsak accused Warne of cashing in on vulnerable people.

Salvation Army spokesman Major Brad Halse said it appeared children needed only access to a credit card to be able to gamble.

VCGR executive commissioner Peter Cohen said the body would examine Warne's website.

"If there is something (illegal) we will take action," he said.

Warne was not available for comment.
