The Indiana Gaming Commission is undertaking a study to analyze casinos’ use of minority and women-owned businesses.
The commission is seeking the input of all businesses that are able, ready and willing to provide goods and services to Indiana’s riverboat casinos.
The information is being sought as part of a disparity study attempting to determine if the amount of purchases made from minority and women-owned businesses is proportionate to the capacity of those companies to provide goods and services to the state’s casinos.
If the study finds a disparity, state law requires the gaming commission to establish utilization goals.
“It is essential to the success of the study to determine the capacity of all businesses, not only MBE and WBE companies, to provide goods and services to Indiana’s casinos,” said commission Deputy Director Jennifer Arnold.
“We are encouraging all businesses interested in being a part of the study to complete a survey or attend one of our outreach meetings.” Arnold said. “Without their input, it will be difficult to arrive at accurate conclusions regarding disparity.”
The commission will host an outreach meeting on Aug. 2 at Casino Aztar in Evansville from 4 to 6 p.m.
The survey is available at www.in.go/gaming on the Internet.
