Cincinnati City Council Member Leslie Ghiz on Monday dropped a personal lawsuit she filed against sponsors of a gambling initiative in Ohio.
She filed the suit in July against the Ohio Learn and Earn Committee, which is sponsoring a statewide ballot initiative that would allow slot machine parlors at seven racetracks and two stand-alone locations in Cleveland, but none in downtown Cincinnati.
Ghiz led a counterinitiative that would have brought slot parlors to those sites, plus one at Broadway Commons near the Hamilton County Justice Center, but that effort failed. Ghiz filed her suit after it became clear that the Cincinnati initiative would not make the ballot.
