Grand Barge Set on Fire by Sparks

GULFPORT - A mid-morning fire in the remains of Grand Casino Gulfport's barge was caused by sparks as demolition workers were cutting on it, said Fire Chief Pat Sullivan.
A lot of coin wrappers remained inside the barge, but there's no telling what other debris was left inside after Hurricane Katrina, according to Sullivan.
Firefighters brought three trucks to the beachfront barge to put out the fire that sent a plume of smoke drifting upwards.
"It's not a cause of concern," Sullivan said. "We're just putting it out."
The barge is not the same Grand Casino vessel where two out-of-state construction workers died March 21 after going inside the barge and being overcome with fumes. Both men drowned in that barge, which once housed the Grand's Kids Quest.
