GRAND FACILE GOES WIRE TO WIRE
MONDAY OCTOBER 16, 2006
Four horses photo ends thrilling Delicada Stakes
(Bossier City, LA) – Jockey Tracy Hebert made the lead rather easily with Grand Facile, and had one objective in mind - to stay there. The pace was reasonable enough and when the competition came to challenge, Grand Facile had all the answers until the line.
The race figured to setup nicely for Plaid, a highly-regarded favorite from the Scott Blasi barn. But when Plaid was asked to go, her response was not as sharp as usual, and Grand Facile dug-in to hold on by a swiftly diminishing head. Raspberry Wine ran a big race to finish right there as well for second, while I. B.’s Halo was third.
Grand Facile had not started since the Louisiana Breeders’ Oaks on Champions Day. The Louisiana-bred earned her fifth win from nine starts and legitimized herself as a top-quality filly. She is trained by James Hodges and owned by Southern Legacy Thoroughbreds.
Racing resumes on Friday at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs, first post is 1:25 pm.
