Two more NC lottery players won $30,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing.
RALEIGH -- According to North Carolina lottery officials, a Greensboro man collected his prize on Thursday for his winning Powerball ticket worth $600,000 from Wednesday's drawing.
In addition, lottery officials say two more North Carolina players held tickets worth $30,000 that they redeemed on Thursday.
According to lottery officials, the $600,000 winner James Dixon said he was "stunned," but he felt "good" when he realized he had matched five of the white Powerball to earn him a prize of $600,000. He did not get the red "Powerball" or he would have won the multi-million dollar jackpot.
However, because Dixon chose to Power Play the $200,000 prize was tripled. According to lottery officials, Dixon said he will probably save most of his prize, which was $408,001 after taxes, but he may take some family members on a trip.
He bought the ticket at Exxon Shop #3 on East Fourth Avenue in Red Springs, North Carolina.
Other Winners Including Triangle Resident
In Wednesday's drawing, two people matched four white balls and the Powerball for $10,000 including a Triangle winner.
Since they both had chosen to Power Play, their winnings were multiplied by three.
Tonyka McClinton of Durham bought her ticket at the Food Lion at Brier Creek in Morrisville and was one of the $30,000 winners. She says she plans to invest her money according to NC Lottery officials.
Nathan Hayes of Fayetteville also won $30,000 say lottery officials. He told the lottery that he plans to spend his money on a new truck.
The lottery in a written statement said that they asked how he felt when he realized he had won he said, "Very, very, very, very happy." He bought his ticket at the Kangaroo Express in Burlington.
Saturday Drawing
The NC Lottery says that there were no winners of the Powerball jackpot so the next jackpot will grow to be worth an estimated $20 million.
The next Powerball drawing will be Saturday night and can be seen live on the 11pm news on WRAL TV-5 in Raleigh. |
