A Greenwood man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after he was convicted of murder for shooting another man during a poker game a year ago.

Fifty-eight-year-old Freddie Edwards was found guilty of murder Thursday night.

The 30-year sentence, which Edwards will have to serve completely, was handed down shortly after the verdict.

Witnesses say George Freeman was shot in July 2005 after refusing to follow one of Edwards' poker game rules about putting money into the pot.

Edwards shot Freeman once in the face.

Wow, and I thought my husband was intense about poker! This is so sad...I mean come on dude, it was just a game! it is so sad how some people have no regard for life.
