Pat Green

Date: Tuesday, March 6th, 2007
Time: 8:00 PM
Price: $25, $30
Reservations: 816-931-3330
Online Reservations: Ticketmaster

Pat Green commands a position in the music world uniquely his own. He sells out stadiums as a headliner, yet he also gets the opportunity to tour with major artists like Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and the Dave Matthews Band.

As hugely popular as Pat Green is, as rabid as his loyal fan base is, there’s still an enormous audience getting their first exposure to his one-of-a-kind music and performances.

The three-time Grammy nominee looks to take his music to the masses. Cannonball, his explosive new album, captures Green’s joyous, provocative songwriting style with new sharpness and swagger. “Feels Like It Should,” the first single from Cannonball, encapsulates the spirit of the new album. Green also cites his enthusiasm for such new songs as “Dixie Lullaby,” “Way Back Texas,” “Love Like That” and the rowdy title cut. Green and his supporters expect Cannonball to transform him from massive cult star to emerging country superstar.

Todd’s humor is situational and contemporary, resulting in a clean universal comedy that makes you feel good and leaves you wondering, “How does Irving talk?”

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Date: Thursday, March 15th, 2007
Time: 7:00 PM
Price: $35, $40
Reservations: 816-931-3330
Online Reservations: Ticketmaster

Founded in California during 1965, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has lasted longer than virtually any other country-based rock group of their era.

In 1969, the members of the three year-old Nitty Gritty Dirt Band almost packed it in for good, unsure of where the young group was heading next in its career or with its hybrid sound. Thirty-eight years later the remaining foursome – weathered, well-traveled, arguably wiser -- is enjoying its 40th Anniversary.

The band, regularly nominated over the years as songwriters and artists, were awarded its most recent Grammy in 2004, Best Country Instrumental, for “Earl’s Breakdown.” NGDB’s self-titled debut was released in 1967 and included “Buy For Me The Rain,” which cracked the Top 40. That was quickly followed by Ricochet and, in 1968, Rare Junk. NGDB’s next album, 1970’s Uncle Charlie and His Dog Teddy, would be the band’s breakthrough, yielding a Top Ten hit with its now-classic version of “Mr. Bojangles.”

Its remarkable run of 17 consecutive Top Ten hits included “Dance Little Jean,” “Baby’s Got A Hold On Me” and “Fishin’ in the Dark.” The group has proven that collaboration, cooperation, tolerance and good humor – along with a healthy disagreement every now and then -- can keep a group of people working together, having fun, and creating vital music for a lifetime. -- Michael Hill

TV on the Radio

Date: Saturday, March 17th, 2007
Time: 8:00 PM
Price: $15
Reservations: 816-931-3330
Online Reservations: Ticketmaster

The Brooklyn-based group TV on the Radio mixes post-punk, electronic, and other atmospheric elements. The duo met when Sitek moved into the building where Adebimpe had a loft; each of them had been recording music on his own, but realized their sounds would work well together. Sitek's brother Jason began playing drums and other instruments with the pair during their recording sessions, which resulted in a self-titled, 24-track. Jason Sitek left the band for a short time due to other musical commitments but returned to the band when they recorded their Touch and Go debut, the Young Liars EP.

After the EP was completed, TV on the Radio added guitarist/vocalist Kyp Malone to their fold. Young Liars, which also features the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Brian Chase and Nick Zinner, was released in summer 2003 to critical acclaim. Their first full-length release, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes arrived in spring 2004. That fall, they released the New Health Rock EP and won the 2004 Shortlist Prize.

In 2005, the band kept busy with touring and working on their second album. In summer 2006 they resurfaced with Return to Cookie Mountain, a more polished but still searching collection of songs that featured David Bowie on backing vocals. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide

Mickey Gilley

Date: Thursday, March 22nd, 2007
Time: 7:00 PM
Price: $35, $40
Reservations: 816-931-3330
Online Reservations: Ticketmaster

Mickey hasn't had to reinvent himself to stay in the game. He has stayed current with the times while knowing what not to change.

Even as he was helping to build the original Gilley's Club into the landmark honky-tonk of the century, Mickey was also launching an incredible career as an entertainer and recording artist. He scored his first string of consecutive number one hits in the mid-70's - "Room Full of Roses", "I Overlooked an Orchid", "Window up Above", and "Don't the Girl's All Get Prettier at Closing Time".

In the 80's he became a smooth crooner of country love songs - "That's All That Matters To Me", "Headache Tomorrow, Heartache Tonight", "I'm Just A Fool For Your Love", "Put Your Dreams Away", and distinctive updates of such romantic classics as "Stand By Me", "True Love Ways", and "You've Really Got A hold On Me".

In all Mickey has achieved a remarkable 39 Top Ten country hits, with 17 of those songs reaching the #1 spot. In 1976 he swept the ACM Awards hauling home trophies for the Entertainer of the Year, Top Male Vocalist, Song of the Year, Single of the Year and album of the year.

Mickey Gilley has accomplished what most Artists only dream of-a long and fulfilling career marked by loyal fans and financial success.
