Harrah's extends deadline on London Clubs buyout

Harrah's Entertainment has extended the deadline for London Clubs International to accept Harrah's offer to acquire that company.

The previous deadline of Oct. 17 has been extended to Nov. 4. Harrah's (NYSE: HET) is offering $2.33 per share, or $521 million, to shareholders of London Clubs, which operates casinos in Britain, Egypt and South Africa.

The board of directors of London Clubs International has unanimously recommended that the remaining shareholders accept the offer. If the offer is successful, Harrah's expects the transaction to close this quarter.

London Clubs' (LON: LCI) shares gained 1.6 percent to $2.37 on the London Stock Exchange.
