I've never hit a jackpot over $200.. Have any of you? My sister hits big all the time. As for me I don't have the luck like her. She just went with her friend last week and won $600. You can catch me on the nickel machines that?€™s where I will be...lol Do you think playing the nickel machines might have something to do with me not hitting often?

LOL. I hit 4 of a kind on Let It Ride with $128 on each line got me $4950 or close to it. it was on William Hill Online. I also won a poker tournament for $900 on Pokerstars. But thats the only time i have ever hit. My ex mother in law won $20,000 on a casino boat on a $5 slot.

The "Nickle slots" for sure have something to do with it - $20 is pretty big on a nickle machine... $200 is enormous!!

Play the quarters or higher and always bet max coin on the slot machines! - (my opinion only)

I agree nicks are too short but you get a lot of gaming entertainment for the buck. I am not a slots guy but i have always played quarters or dollars. They have a machine in vegas $1 one spin win $100 or nothing. I put my first 100 in and lost it. put in another and won 3 times left with 418 so it can be profitable, if you find something like that give it a shot.

Check out the latest television talk at Media Village

I've always heard if you can afford it, play $1 slots or at least 50 cent slots rather than nickels. You end up with a much bigger payout if you do win.

I won $1,000 once on a Blondie slot. Also won $600 once on - I think it was Double Diamonds (which I normally don't play).

Oh yes,
many times at Lincoln Park. $2500 twice and $1250 a few times.
Surprisingly I won $10k on lottery scratch tickets 2 years in a row both in the month of July.

My husband actually won $1,000 once on Wheel of Fortune at the Tropicana in Vegas. He had left me to go retrieve his rewards card he'd left behind in a slot machine. After waiting and waiting, I was getting angry until he showed up with the $1,000. He just HAD to stop and play

If you like videogames, come see me at Gaming Evolved Forum (I'm Eyes Only over there too)

I won $1,500 on a slot machine in vegas once. And I won $1,000 at bingo in Canada once. I also won $2,500 on a lottery game. That's it for my big winnings. I know a lady that hit $65,000 on a slot machine. Wish I had luck like that.

I am humbledby the previous post. it seems I am better at putting money in the system that I am not taking it out. last time I promised myself I would quit while I was ahead. high time I was ahead by $100 on a $20 investment. I should have quit but thought I might get a big one and besides I was $80 ahead. When I finished the $100 I just had to invest another $20 to get back my original investment--never happened! So for hitting a big hasn't happened in the that it is nice to know that happens to someone somewhere sometime. Good luck.

I have definitetly hit jackpots before. The trick as "gamer" points out of course is to NOT drop the jackpot funds back into the machine. Little tip: if you hit something, go eat a free dinner or have a few drinks and talk about the jackpot you hit.

Chances are your friends will encourage you to STOP for the night and not to be stupid about it. You can certainly have a good time after you hit a jackpot by just sitting around and shooting the crap with (not literally folks!) everyone who is still playing.

Either that or try downsizing the denomination you are gambling in. If you won on quarters don't go up to dollars, go down to nickles and play until your friends are ready to leave.

Cheers,
B

I know people who go to Vegas with X amount of dollars to spend. When they hit a jackpot, they immediately get a money order and mail it home. They spend the amount they took there to spend and if they have any winnings they won't be able to "put it back". I think that's a pretty good strategy.

Only landbased casinos in Oklahoma are the Indian casinos. I've hit $1700 betting 2 on a quarter slot. Just a week ago I hit $400 on a 50 cent machine betting 2, I was up to about $15 played when I got a free spin and landed that. I 'hit the button' and cashed out immediately. Online I hit around $1800 playing break da bank on nickel bets. Also made around $1200 online playing Avalon when it retriggered on the free spin. I guess these may not be "jackpots" to many people, but to me it was a lotta dough, and pretty darned thrilling. Of course I get Happy when I play $10 in a quarter machine betting 2 or 3 and get free spins that land on something good, and make $2 or $300 dollars. Not a bad return for the money! I do that a lot at the casinos here, and my hubby follows me around and tells me to "hit the button"! I win often, and he doesn't, so I play, and he cashes my winnings, and usually gives me back one-half what I won to play some more. Using this method generally assures us leaving with more cash than we went in with. I figure it's a good night when that happens.

I just saw this thread, and I had to post, since I can finally answer YES to the jackpot question! It was several months ago (around last October) when it happened. At that time, our local Indian casinos in Tulsa, Oklahoma, were a lot more generous than they currently are. It's not just me, everyone knows that here. It's definitely changed over the last almost year or so, and for the worse.

But anyway, back then, people were winning more and hitting more jackpots -- I started getting a little bit of a complex, since I still had never won anything to speak of, and it seemed like everyone I knew had at least one jackpot story to tell, and many people I knew had more than one, and I mean REAL jackpot size winnings! Like in the thousands, some even had won as much as $25,000- I think that was the most anybody I knew had ever won. And I knew TWO people who won that amount! And one of those people had hit more than one jackpot, the big $25000 one, and I think one for $4000, and at least a couple more smaller ones, like $2500, I think.

So, I kept thinking how much money that must mean is actually being won overall, if I alone knew of that many wins just among the people I knew (none of whom are rich or who ever have all THAT much to blow at a casino, although they probably all spend more than they can afford at times...lol). And that was just MY acquaintances... not to mention all the people who had won who I never even heard of!

So when I still kept NOT winning, and not winning, etc etc., it was getting a little depressing. But that all changed one day, when I went to one of our Osage casinos here, when I finally got a jackpot story of my own. I won $6,000 on a quarter slot machine that day!

They paid me in cash right then and there, all 100 dollar bills, one after the other, in my hand til I was holding a stack of em that added up to $6000. More money than I'd ever had at one time ever.

I had gone in with a free $7 certificate that they sent me in the mail (everyone gets 'em if they play fairly often at that casino)... and I also had $20 of my own, and that was all the money I had on me when I got there. And I was really planning to at least TRY to only spend the $7 free money they sent me,and not break into the $20 of my own, cause I really needed it for other things, and I was broke at the time.

But I knew I'd end up spending it too if I had it with me, and I did, well, part of it anyway. I spent the $7 pretty quick, so I put that $20 into a machine called the Vortex, which you can play quarters or half dollars or dollars on, 1 to 3 coins at a time.

I made a few spins with it on quarters, 3 in each spin, and nothing happened, so I increased the denomination to half dollars -- and was I ever glad I did.

It hit on the 50 cent denomination, when I had 3 coins in, and it hit the biggest thing that machine can possibly pay out. That top symbol on the top of the paychart dropped down in all 3 places on the payline, and then it started free spinning, which, in our local casinos, is when you can really make some money, and it did one free spin and gave me the same 3 symbols, and then another one, same 3 symbols, and then again, same 3, and again, and ... I don't know how many times that happened, cuz I was just about in shock already by then!

Finally it was done, and it was $6000.

Which I gave back a LARGE part of to the various casinos in town, over the next, oh, about 3 months, cuz by New Year's, it was... yep, all gone.

But I did spend some of it on other things too, but admittedly not enough. One big $1000 payment went to pay off a big chunk of a loan I was making monthly payments on, so I haven't had to make a payment on that for all this time since then. But yes, I kept spending and spending it at the casinos, thinking that surely, I'd win another good one before it all ran out - surely! But then it was out and I hadn't yet hit anything else to speak of, so that was the end of that.

But if I'd just had enough to try for a little bit longer....I'm SURE it was right around the corner! LOL, I know ... u never know... but it just seemed impossible to run out of that much money without ever winning a bunch of it back, when all it took for me to win it was a tiny fraction of all that money, you know? But that's just what I did. Ran out before I hit again.

And so now, I'm back in the same place I was before I hit that one, thinking that surely, it's gonna happen again soon, cuz it'll be a year soon, so I keep going but I keep losing... or rather, I keep winning but it's not enough, so I spend it back trying to win a big enough amount, but end up leaving dead broke every time. I haven't won more than a couple hundred except maybe one time when I won about $450 one day, and I know that should have been enough, at least for the moment, but that was the day I ended up staying in the casino for all that day after winning the $450 and all that night and into the next... until it was all gone -- as if that was my goal. As if, OK, I did it, it's gone, I can go home now... and that's NOT my goal! lol.

But unfortunately, like I said at the beginning of this awfully long post, it's not like it used to be at our casinos... their generosity has waned decisively, now that they reeled us all in, with jackpots for everybody or closer to it than now at least, and so we all keep coming back for more, but now they don't have to give em to us, since we're still coming back even tho we're not winning - not as much anyway.
And of course, some people still are, but I'm sure it's fewer than before.

But this time, it could be you! It could be me! So I still go when I can. It sure is fun when it works, but sure is a bummer when it doesn't.

I'll let you know when it finally works again, hope it'll be soon!

Great post idea, OP!

thx
sunspun

I had recently won $600 dollars playing 100,000 pennies I had almost hit the jackpot of 36,000 and I also won $400.00 playing another penny slots machines. But with me I like to play the max sometimes if I feel the machine getting cold I jump right off.
