Hellmuth, Enright Inducted into Poker Hall of Fame
They Join Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Stu Ungar
Welcome to the Hall, Phil Hellmuth and Barbara Enright.
Hellmuth and Enright are this year’s inductees to Poker Hall of Fame. Enright is the first woman to be inducted into the 28 year-old hall.
The criteria and standards for induction into the Hall of Fame are high," said Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP Commissioner. "A gambler must have played against top competition for high stakes, played well and gained the respect of his or her peers, and stood the test of time. Barbara and Phil clearly meet these high standards, and we are delighted to welcome them into the Hall of Fame as the Class of 2007.”
Enright and Hellmuth join 33 other Hall of Fame members, including Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Johnny Moss, Stu Ungar, Chip Reese, T.J. Cloutier, Puggy Pearson and Wild Bill Hickok.
Hellmuth is one of the world’s most popular poker players and he holds more WSOP bacelets (11) than anyone else.
In 1995, Enright was the first and only woman in the WSOP history to make the final table of the $10,000 main event. A year later, she became the first female to win a bracelet in an open event.
Her poker career started out strong as she won the first poker tournament she ever entered which just happened to be the WSOP Ladies Stud Event in 1986. She owns three WSOP bracelets. She is a southern California poker player and still lives there with poker writer Max Shapiro.
