September 16, 2006 - The all new Island View Casino Resort will open this Monday on Gulf Coast land formerly owned by Grand Oasis Casino, a gambling casino who was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Rick Carter and Terry Green, the two Gulfport natives who are running the privately held casino, used to own Copa Casino, which was completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina as well. Now they are back in business and stronger than ever. The two partners purchased the former Harrah's casino, Grand Oasis, who once operated in this location. The high-rolling investors have changed the name and are investing more than $250 million dollars in jazzing up the new Island View casino.

Island View has brought over 1100 new jobs and will have created more than 1800 by the springtime next year. Most of the employees at Island View formerly worked at Copa Casino. The people are happy to get their jobs back in the always-exciting gaming industry.

The casino is comprised of over one-thousand slots and 14 table games, and according to the new owners, the size will triple by next spring. Great comeback story from the Gulf Coast! You can go down there and check it out this Monday, September 18th at 7pm for the Grand Opening.
