Isle of Capri Boulevard to receive new name as well

Along with the casino, Isle of Capri Boulevard will also be receiving a facelift in the near future.

At the request of Legends Gaming, LLC, Bossier City officials are currently working to rename the 500-foot stretch of road to Diamond Jack Boulevard.


Bossier City Project Coordinator Pam Glorioso said the change could take as long as 60 days before it is implemented.

"We're working with them," Glorioso said. "The city engineer is preparing the ordinance, then it will go on the next City Council agenda."

District 4 Councilman David Jones said he doesn't mind supporting the road name change as long as the surrounding businesses that share the casino's address show no ill feelings towards the idea.

"I know they do it for tourism purposes so out-of-towners can locate the street," Jones said. "I don't mind helping for the tourism aspect of it."

Mark Hudson, city engineer for Bossier City, said he was informed of the owners' request, but a change of that magnitude can only happen once all proper protocol has been followed.

Hudson said the casino's new owners will have to get approval first from those businesses before any action can move forward to implement the change.

"They lead me to believe it would take a few days," he said. "I don't know where they are in the process now, but the ball is actually in their court."
